Ms. Brightside

This poem had a purpose
However dark it was, its true
But now I've found I'm torn
Yes, completely torn in two

So fragile and naive
Yes, anyone could beesech
But could anybody,
Knowing the depths I've had to reach

I'm still Ms. Brightside
Hoping the rain will clear
But I'm sure that is no rain drop
Surely it is a tear

Maybe torn in two
Isn't exactly right;
Missing a 25th,
Is more what this feels like

And what a 25th it is though
Casting a shadow on my day
Even the real Mr. Brightside
Couldn't cast this one away

So what am I to do,
Hanging in this chasm
Holes in my rainbow
And no way to patch 'em?

A piece so small,
Can anyone understand,
This tiny hole
Feeling so grand?

As Ms. Brightside,
I'm feeling terribly tarnished
Even my laugh
Can't rise above with varnish
